Christine Parey

Born and raised in Euclid Ohio, an east suburb of Cleveland, I started swimming competitively at the age of eight for a local summer swim team.  That continued until I aged out of the league at 16.  I then swam for Euclid High School where I lettered all four years and was a team co-captain my senior year.  My specialties included backstroke, butterfly, and I.M. events.

After graduating high school in 1995, I started attending Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea Ohio where I swam mostly middle distance events.  My usual OAC championship meet lineup consisted of the 200 fly, 200 I.M. and 400 I.M. At B-W I was a four year letter winner and the Women’s team captain my senior year.  I graduated from Balwin-Wallace in 1999 with a B.A. in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting.

In the summers of my high school and college years I was a lifeguard and taught swim lessons.  Also, the summer before my junior year of college, I was an assistant swim coach on the team I swam for in my youth.  I coached the 9-10 year old age group.

After college I started working full-time for The Sherwin-Williams Company at their corporate headquarters in Cleveland in the Consumer Division Accounting Department.  After several promotions in Cleveland, I transferred to the S-W Columbus Plant in 2004 to be their Financial Analyst and Systems Administrator.

In January 2010 I made the decision to start swimming again and joined the New Albany Masters Team.  I forgot how much I loved the sport and enjoyed being a part of an athletic team.  I swam in the Masters Spring National Meet in Atlanta in May 2010 and am currently training and looking forward to my next meet.
